Amare – The Hague

Lighting Re-Design Public Areas - 2024 - WORK IN PROGRESS

View project

Amare, The Hague, The house for art, events, education and cultural encounters opened its doors in September 2021.

The building houses the Foundation for Dance and Music Center The Hague, the Residentie Orchestra, the Netherlands Dance Theater and the Royal Conservatory.

The complex measures 125 by 70 meters, is over 38 meters high and has five theater halls:
theater hall (1,300 seats)
concert hall (500 seats)
ensemble hall (600 seats)
Amare studio (200 seats)
NDT black box (NDT rehearsal hall, occasionally open to the public)

The public spaces that connect these halls consist of foyers and various halls that upon opening did not yet have the right atmosphere that the building of this stature deserves.

Bastard Orange Lighting Design was asked to enrich the atmosphere in this spaces with light.

Most lighting plans will be realized in phases in the period 2023 – 2024.
